About Look Society
Look Society is a national level Non- Government Organization (NGO) started in Rudrapryag, Uttarakhand India in 2010 with the vision and mission to promote rural development activities for livelihoods, agricultural development, eco-tourism, environment, skill development, women empowerment, conservation of Art & Culture and other emerging development related issues.
The area of work primarily is focused towards the development of villages of the state, especially towards working in remote and most backward areas. Initially, the Society worked on issues related to agriculture, cultural heritage, health, environment, women & children in rural areas across the State. The society is working as a service delivery organization and would gradually wish to evolve to be an innovator of methods of large-scale delivery, specifically on livelihood, employment generation and eco-tourism sector.
The concept of the society was conceived by the young social workers, about 8 years ago when an integrated village rehabilitation programme was started, in Barsu village, Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand. India. Since then the society is working effectively for over all village development, specially; to help poor farmers in many ways, by involving them for skill development, Education, Health Care, Rehabilitation, Food Security, Tourism and Environment in different parts of the state.
We think that; Growth of Villages is Growth of the Country.
Vision and Mission:
Vision
Our vision is to work for village development specially; to promote the youth of the India. We are committed to work for empowerment of women farmers, to promote sustainable village development to generate employment opportunities for poor villagers.
Mission
The society is focus on livelihood development activities in farming, art and culture and skill development for socio-economic development of village community. Our main work ethics is to empower poor women farmers, to enhance agricultural production, to provide FOOD Security to people of India. It is our endeavour to empower every farmer at the grass root level.
History
The organization was started in 2010, by a group of young committed professional, who have an urge to work for the development of the farmers of the hilly villages of the state of Uttarakhand. Due to the lack of funds, most of the time these professional work along with the village community in the routine ongoing activities like:- agricultural development, water harvesting, environment protection, women & child development, skill development, health awareness, cleanliness campaign and art and craft development activities etc.
The Society was launched with the mission development campaign, with the aim to empower the village youth and with the serves as a protective shield from natural disasters like:- floods, cyclones, tsunamis, etc. The society is helping vulnerable people by advocating with Government authorities and thereby addressing their needs support District Authorities in training rural women on livelihood under various state and National level schemes and many other context specific activities.
Achievements:
In the past 8 years the society has achieved many visible targets as under:
- Planting thousands of trees with Green Vein Foundation
- Rehabilitation of 350 digester effected people of the area
- Distribution of 80 water filter tanks and equipment
- Enabling many families to resettle into Barsu village
- Winter Cloths Kit Distribution every year to 100s of poor people.
- Skill Development & Health Awareness Programmes
- Protection and promotion of Himalayan Sanskriti
- Create awareness among (1,000s of farmers) on the impact of climate change and adaptation.
- To give early warning to the farming community (1,000s of farmers) about the impact of climate change.
